I used the "plastic" designated cutting wheel. With the EZ lock system. It took 2 blades in total.

I was thinking that maybe a sort of "jig" to fit the rope into, if you could somehow obtain the dimensions of the 2014 DRL.

To be honest, if you're truly looking to replicate the 2014 DRL you'll need to get your hands on some damages headlights or the DRL housing strip. You can then cut and mold these to fit in the existing housing. Wiring new LEDs to a set of broken 2014 housings would be easy as well.

It's pretty tough to get those sharp and defined illumination lines the 2014 has in the DRL without having the housing. Otherwise your just going to have to settle on something similar.

You are the man. I have been too much of a wuss to split my housings but I think I'm going to now.

I'm with you. It's scary. I've never had to cut before. Use a good RTV silicon, no problems!

If I were you, I'd swap out your DRL for a bixenon Morimoto Mini H1 HID. That's my only regret, should have done that while I was in there.

So it's funny you mention that. I was thinking about getting used xenon housings with all the tabs on ebay. Cutting it open and doing some kind of JW Speaker setup in the DRL and painting the whole thing black as I have JW Speaker LED fog lights.
