Re: HID into Halogen Housing

Step 1:
Don't.

HID bulbs create an 'arc' between two electrodes.
That arc is not in the same location as the filament of a normal halogen bulb.
Therefore, your OEM halogen reflector would not 'project' the light properly with an HID bulb installed and all you would do is blind oncoming traffic.

The only proper way to have HID bulbs in non-HID headlights is to take them apart and install a proper HID projector housing inside the halogen housing.

Other threads have reported success with that method.
Still other threads talk about the new LED H11 bulbs available on the market.

Personally, for now I went with the Osram Nighbreaker bulbs from PowerBulbs:
OSRAM Night Breaker Unlimited H11 (Twin) | PowerBulbs

We shall see how long they last...
They do not have the "blue" appearance of other tinted bulbs.

Re: HID into Halogen Housing

It can be done I've run HID conversion for years. Don't be an a$$ and get annoying colors. Don't use 55w kits as I found out they are blinding to others. 55w 8k color from retro solutions llc were over kill I had to run with headlight covers to dim them down. 35watt digital ac 8k is a great color very white. Get the tips dipped to eliminate hot spots. Use a harness kit so current doesn't kill your electrical system. And you'll be all set. The mentioned company also dips and can even install projectors as well. I'm not advertising for them and no affiliation but speak from excellent service quality and lifetime warranty.
