Re: HID projectors headlamp retrofit - DIY (picture heavy)

Really nice job!

The non-HID headlights are all I dislike on my Laredo X, so this is something I definitely want to do eventually. Thanks for the pics and write up!

I use these as well but for fogs. The projectors he used, the "Morimoto Mini H1's" retail for about $120 from TRS.

if you can fit it maybe go with an FX-R 3.0 projector.

What's the difference in projectors?

The Mini H1 is a good projector but is mainly ideal for people who have limited space but still want a projector setup.

The FX-R 3.0 just came out and is pretty good. Since it's the 3rd iteration it has less wide of a spread but a sharper cutoff and more foreground lighting.

I spent about $250 for everything. As for the aiming, it was the easiest retrofit I've ever done. The right light was dead on, and the left just adjusted it up a bit with the factory height adjustment, easy.

I think the Minis are perfect for any high vehicle, since not much foreground light is needed.

Nice work! I love seeing how people retrofit projectors in different vehicles.

Yeah me too but then again he did re-seal them with Butyl weather sealant. So time will tell how long it holds.
