Edited the original post with a couple of more pictures showing the stuff I used to seal the housing and bulb area, and the extra vents added too.

Out of all the retrofits I have seen, this is the first time I've seen vents installed. Have there been any condensation outbreaks yet or do you believe the vents have taken care of that?

Nice...where did you get these custom vents? The sponge inside the outer hole, is that for blocking dust inside the headlight? Beautifully thought.

You're right, adding vents is not common, it could be a combination of both. I removed them to inspect and reseal them, since I was getting a little condensation inside plus I wasn't satisfied 100% with the first sealant I used. I added the extra vent at the bottom for safety I guess, I don't want to remove them again.

Thanks, they are just little vacuum elbows, you can get them at the local auto parts. I put them there to help the headlamp breath and keep bugs and dust out. I have seen other OEM assemblies with a similar design.

Re: HID projectors headlamp retrofit - DIY (picture heavy)

I just got a quote of $1130 to install this same application with me providing the parts. Damn man, prices in NJ are out of control. This is probably one of the most ridiculous quotes I have ever seen.

They also quoted me an FXR Stage 1 system installed for $1,580. I would install myself but I break things... literally I do.. have no patience. LOL

I guess I'll just settle for the Altitude black headlights.

Depending on what needs to be done, on certain lights they do take a lot of time to do (especially well). I did one for a friend and only charged $200, but the amount of time I spent on it was unreal. They have their own expenses to take care of as well, so the prices don't surprise me.

Realistically, anyone can do a simple retrofit regardless if there needs to be any cutting done.

Let me know how it goes. I will probably purchase the altitude ones and practice with the old ones I'm taking out.

Re: HID projectors headlamp retrofit - DIY (picture heavy)

Is there a place where I can send (mail) my headlights to have them retrofitted?
