Hooking up Battery Tender to under hood + & - posts.

I would like to use our Battery Tender on our JGC Diesel. Has anyone installed their BT to the Plus and Minus posts under the hood.

Question : If so, are the + & - terminal bolts captive and so you just undo those tubular nuts and then slide the BT cable ring terminals on the bolts and tighten them up?

Thanks guys

Re: Hooking up Battery Tender to under hood + & - posts.

Ok,
So I got some info from another board and it is very easy, peasy to do. The tubular nuts go onto CAPTIVE bolts so it's pretty much brain dead.

I just didn't want to undo the nuts and then find the bolt dropping through into the fenders LOL!

Battery Tender Plus working well on the large 800ahbattery...still charging away 4 hours after installation. The BT Plus works with AGM batteries, in case anyone had the question .

Re: Hooking up Battery Tender to under hood + & - posts.

i had to install one for my Laredo to keep the battery warm over night during winter. Its gets below -40 and i was told battery tenders works batter than battery warmers because it keeps them fully charged at the same time. I connected the cables to the posts and placed the tender box right underneath the fuse box right in front of it. there is small room under there which is little bigger than the BT. Cables were just long enough to reach without pulling too hard. i placed small foam pad under the BT to prevent any damages to the box from getting banged up. Hope this all makes sense! good luck
