Re: How many have switched to a full synthetic oil?

How much are most dealers charging for a synthetic oil change? I'm thinking of switching to it.

I buy my oil and bring it into the shop. The dealer charges me $15 for the oil change and a new oil filter. I would do it myself but I live in an apartment complex.

I just did @ 24k (2102 Overland Hemi) on the recommendation of the dealer. Wasn't aware of the "Hemi Tick". 7500 up to 10k next change.

Re: How many have switched to a full synthetic oil?

I've used full sythentic from day 1 on my 2014 Hemi overland. I catch it on sale and I've already stocked up on my mopar filters(Internet)..cheaper then the dealers. They charge me 10 bucks for the oil disposal and that's it. Oil change is done.

Re: How many have switched to a full synthetic oil?

I've been using a full synthetic oil in all of my vehicles since the 70s. Yes, I'm an ol' fart at 76 years of age. Mobil 1 was the only choice back then if I remember correctly.

When I bought my 5.7L JGC back in January of this year, I had the oil changed to Pennzoil Ultra 5W-20 and Fram's best filter. There were 47k miles on it then.

I have never heard the infamous tick.

Re: How many have switched to a full synthetic oil?

I have been using synthetics since early 80's in every vehichle.

Per the Overland, Did a few changes with dino and converted at 5k.

Have also changed the diffs to Redline 75w-90 and the T-case and Power Steering fluid to Amsoil ATF. Lots of metal from break in, in the diffs and T-case, will change them again in the spring.

First Jeep, make the switch?

I just bought my first Jeep. Previous rides were a '95 explorer, '01 pathfinder, and an '06 4runner. Couldn't afford a newer 4runner, and I've heard good things with these jeeps, so I went for it.
2012 Laredo X 3.6L 4x4 bought in mid-Dec. 2015 with 54k miles. Now approaching 58k. I do not know what oil is in there now or what the previous owner used. I would like to make the switch to full synthetic, esp. because it looks so easy to change. I had to remove the skid plate to get to the oil filter in my 4runner, and it took 6.6L of oil! Looking forward to only needing 6L and the filter is right on top.

Re: How many have switched to a full synthetic oil?

Honestly I don't understand why dealerships pour some conventional oil and its fricking 2016... I think conventional oil should join trash pit like old CRT analog televisions when digital tv comes out.

Just my opinion...
