Try Wal-Mart for the 5 quart jug of Pennzoil Ultra Synthetic for $26.97 that is what I have been using.

Great I will... Thanks!

So even though its more expensive, it seems like the majority of people think it is definitely worth going to synthetic?

Yup this is steal and great oil from everything I have read here and at bobistheoilguy.com. In fact, at those prices, you'd almost be crazy not to use synthethic imo.

Ok, on second thought, DO NOT change your own oil! We want you around for a while!

Haha! Yea, it's unfortunate! I am not the most mechanically inclined person out there, bit I think if I didn't have those obstacles it would be one thing I could get through!

I bought Penzoil Synthetic Ultra at Walmart for $27 5qt + $8 1qt = $35 (The Jeep takes 6qts). The dealer was going to charge me $7 oil filter + $12 oil change = $19 but it was my first oil change so they did it for free. So, my total would have been $55. And yes, they were fine with using my oil...

The dealer had a Penzoil promotion of 3 oil changes of Synthetic Ultra for $180. I had to explain to them that I was saving $5 per oil change by buying my own oil.

I'd do it myself, but I live in an apartment complex.

How about the Mobil 1 EP? Is it good enough for 14's GC with 3.6L engine?

Maybe among those who post here. According to this, synthetic lubricant use is expected to reach 12.5% by 2019. This, I believe is across all lubricant uses.

Re: How many have switched to a full synthetic oil?

I've been running Mobil 1 0W20 since the first oil change in the Hemi without any issues. Have been using Mobil 1 since it's inception and am extremely satisfied. Walmart has it for less than $25 for the 5 qt jug and then a couple of quarts in the $6+ range. I'll be running the Mobil 1 0W40 in the four stroke snowmobiles this winter as well.

I have a question. For all of you changing your own oil, is there anyway to report the oil changes to the dealership so that they report it to carfax ? Or is the only to have your maintenance documented on Carfax is by going through the dealership?

Not sure about the carfax thing but you can add your own service on to your moparownerconnect account. Dealer service shows up on there also.
