I ordered Item # 55111916AP (2011-2013 without Heated or Ventilated Seats)

From Just for Jeeps!!

Step #1 Unbox and awe at the beauty of it.

Step #2 say good bye to manual HVAC

Step #3
Use the bottom lip of the trim and pull with 2 hands equally * mine took some force*

Almost there!!! I found it easier to start pulling and wiggling near the drivers vent!

***** Caution There are wires attached to the panel*****
Step #5 it's out!

Step #6 Requires a #15 Torx bit (at least that's what worked for me)
4x torx and the old HVAC will fall out!

Take your new Auto Hvac put it in place of the old put the screws back in.

Step #7 Trim the HVAC Harness Connector ** I used a razor blade to trim it **

Step #8 Plug your connectors back into the panels before putting the trim back in place and get it a good push to pop all the clips back in.

Step #9 Enjoy!!

Hope this helps!

Yea, I slacked a little bit I forgot to take a picture of the finished product.

I trimmed it back i did not make it flush, Only the outer fins need to be trimmed back

The sync button makes the Driver and Passenger side the same temp.

Looks great. I still get a laugh anytime I see the manual hvac controls in a WK2. Those 3 large knobs just look like something that JC Whitney or Pep Boys would sell. I'm sure the Jeep designers could have come up with better looking manual hvac controls than those 3 ugly cheap looking knobs.

You never heard of the "ugly designer" ? The person employed to make "base" models look cheap ? The one who designs radio and clock delete plates (like the row of non-buttons under the HVAC on a 2WD V6 that screams "something else is supposed to be here").

Buick used to have one when styling was in three year phases: the last year would be what the designers envisioned origionally and the first two "uglied" so that the third year would still garner sales.

Just look at the 63-4 Riviera and then the 65, the 68-9 Skylark and then the 70.

Thanks OP for the write-up, great relatively cheap mod to get rid of the ugly controls now.

Can someone confirm that the farenheit/celcius changes when changed in the evic? Or is there a canadian climate control?

Thanks

Ordered the 68111109AQ HVAC controls from Just for Jeeps, but looks like I got the AP? Has heated and cooled seats controls, I have neither, but planned on finding a way of adding heated seats and wiring them to the HVAC.

Screw locations were different than the one shown on Just for Jeeps, but there were mouting holes there for them.
As you can see in the pics, temperature appeared in celcius too!
Install couldnt have been easier, all controls seem to work fine, except of course for the heated/cooled seats. That will be my next project.

Thanks OP for making this post!

I finally did this mod. Unfortunately it got too dark and cold to take some pictures. I will try to post some tomorrow.

I must say I can not get over how easy this was. You would think Chrysler would hvae offered this as a standard option. Btw I was able to score the unit on eBay for 65 bucks. It was a used unit but came in perfect. Wife was giving me a hard time about it until she saw it installed LOL. Now I just have to wait for the dealer to call me to get my Katzkin installed.

Once again thank you all. I may not have been able to get a sport toy car but thanks to you all I am able to at least get my mod fix lol

Heads up guys. I just got a call from the dealer. My Katzkin seats are done. Be aware though, if you do the Auto Climate control and for some reason you have to remove the seats (katzkin install for example) When they put everything together it will cause for codes to pop up

My ABS and Airbag light came on. dealer said it has to do when the system resets it throws the codes up since the Auto Climate is not originally part of the system. I have to take back the original manual climate control back with me so they can put it back in to reset the codes.

After that I can reinstall the auto myself. Hopefully it doesn't make any codes come out again. Will keep you all posted.

I have multiple services done not a single issue it sounds like they screwed up your airbag sensors when messing with the seats.

My dealer even added the auto temp to my sales code.

the AUTO TEMP IS NOT RELATED IN ANYWAY TO ABS/AIRBAGS they are trying to get out of fixing something they broke

They tried but were unable. Not sure it's because the auto control I had was a used one or not. Once they hooked up the original one they had no problem fixing the lights and codes. As soon as I got home I reinstalled the auto control and no problems at all. If I ever have to get service done on the jeep I may pull the unit out and replace it with the stock one. It' s so simple now.

From the member that is doing/did the stereo install, correct? I recall reading that as well. Well like I said earlier problem is fixed and auto control back in. See my thread in the exterior/interior section for bad pics of the seats. "My wk2 so far"

Thanks guys for the possible solutions and causes. you guys rock!

Yeah, I just offered up the info because it seems odd that somebody else added it without codes or trouble adding in the auto to their build list. While it may seem dimples enough to remove/replace the thing I would wonder about with everything going through the "computer" now, the next service bulletin / update (which is based off build sheet associated with vin) gets the wrong software because the auto hvac isn't there...I'm probably over thinking this and I'm glad its working for you.

Think Outside !- No Box Required.

Just installed the Auto control unit to replace the stock Manual unit.

Has anyone solved the icon illumination problem? I reseeded the plug to the unit and disconnected the negative(-) battery terminal for approx. 10 minutes to reset the unit.
