As mentioned by many, thanks for the write up...hitch installed in under two hours with the help of a friend. No major problems to report at this time. Next on the list is a platform style bike rack just in time for spring

Hey just curious, what did everyone who installed the oem hitch do with their former rear crossmember? Any demand for these to be sold on ebay or craigslist? Just wondering as I don't see a need for it in the foreseeable future. Thanks

Re: How to: OEM hitch Install

I didn't think much about it, I took mine to the metal recycle bin at the dump....I guess a body shop could use it to fix a rear-ender on a GC w/o a trailer hitch?

Looks nice and clean, can't wait for the nice weather to hit New England so I can hook up the new bike rack and hit the trails!

Where is everyone finding the best price for the hitch? Also, if you're ore wired, have you found just the plug to avoid buying the whole harness?

Will need to get the hitch from your dealer, can not remember price, but go with the OEM hitch, and just need to purchase the 7/4 way trailer plug from dealer if your jeep is already prewired for trailer, mine was.
If it is prewired, will still need to get Jeep reconfigured for trailer wiring to work.

Dealer is overpriced. I've already seen it on just for jeeps for less. Just trying to see if someone has found it cheaper than their price.

Ebay or amazon, those are really the only two other options where u can find a deal. I want to say I bought mine through amazon. Just make sure the kit comes with the bezel.

Amazon is more expensive than justforjeeps. I'm trying to reach to members who know other places like them who have the best deal. Not looking for dealer or eBay. There are many suppliers of factory parts. Most other forums I'm on the members usually share their experiences with places. I have a few months before j need the hitch so just doing my research. Thanks.
