Re: How to: OEM hitch Install

JohnC,

The cheapest place I've been able to find is Just for Jeeps. Use coupon code "retailmenot5" for 5% off. That is what I will be doing later this week.

Thanks. That's what I was looking for. They seem to be the cheapest that I found as well. I couldn't imagine paying retail at the dealer. I still have to check if I'm prewired or not.

Re: How to: OEM hitch Install

Was gonna order mine on line for 240, cheapest I saw was 229, but wasn't sure if bezel came with it, then I was as Jeep dealer for another issue and asked how much it was and it was 240....which was cheaper than on line purchase since no shipping was involved. So for me dealer was no brainer.

Re: How to: OEM hitch Install

Dude, Thanks a lot! I finished installing in 3 hrs myself.
Maybe I also need to go to dealer to active the electronic module, and install a brake controller for RV towing.

I called several dealers, they are all around $100, the cheapest one can do it $95. They said it takes about 1 hr to refresh the car computer.

The price is high, if I can do it myself I would like to do but it seems go to the dealer is the only choice

Yes you will need to go to dealer to get factory trailer wiring working.
Dealer has to add option of trailer wiring to your VIN, then do a vehicle
reconfiguration to get it to activate and work, most dealers will charge about 1 hour labour for this.

The dealer near me charged a flat $30. No extra's, no tax.
Hayes Chrysler/Jeep.
