This is a DIY for those who want to run the DRL LED Strip only on the Anzo / Eagle Eye halogen headlights. There may be other ways to do this, but this is the way I did it, and I feel like it came out great.
Also, a shout out to rt66er for this tip.
Things you need
18-22AWG Butt Splice
Amazon.com: JEGS Performance Products 10742 Butt Splice Connectors: Car Electronics
2-Pin Male / Female Plug
Note: ABOVE DRL CONTROLLER COMES WITH PLUGS
Amazon.com: Leegoal 5 Kit 2 Pin Way Car Waterproof Electrical Connector Plug with Wire AWG Marine (Black with black and red cables): Car Electronics
High Temp Electric Tape
First, take a look at the back and you will see a salmon colored plug.
Twist and pull out, and you will see 4 colored wires, Black / White / Red/ Blue
You want to cut the White and Red wires.
I used a nail clipper, because I'm lazy and that was the closest tool in reach while I was doing this.
Then, you will see a black rubber "elbow" which is the vacuum. This, you just pull out easily. Underneath the rubber elbow is the hole where you will be feeding the cut wires through
Here are the wires cut
Feed the two wires underneath and up. Use a tweezer to pull it out as this helps.
Feed the wires again through the rubber elbow
Reattach the rubber elbow over the hole
Now comes the wiring part
You will need this wire cutting tool, and a pack of 18 to 22 AWG butt splice, preferrably the one where you can shrink with a torch or source of heat.
Please look up how to attach a butt splice. It is fairly self explanatory so I won't go over it here.
This is what it should look like
This is the plugs
Then I torched the ends to shrink it
This is the MALE plugs attached. You can choose to do either male or female.. it doesn't matter.
Note Again: You can use the plugs that came with the DRL controller.
MAKE SURE YOU ATTACH RED (positive) TO RED (positive) AND BLACK (ground) TO BLACK (ground) ( White is also ground in the case of the headlights)
I wrapped in high temp electric tape to make sure it wont move and give it extra protection
Then, you will see the DRL controller that comes in a pair of plugs for each side of headlights.
See the diagram provided on the Amazon site:
The DRL Controller has a white and yellow wire also attached. Disregard these. You can cut them off too if you want.
You can use the plugs that came with the DRL controller, or if you want to use your preferred plug, you can cut the plugs on those and splice and attach the female plugs onto each side.
Install the headlights onto car.
Then the rest is self explanatory, where you wire the DRL controller to the positive and negative terminal under the hood.
Then you simply plug everything together.
