Installing Tekonsha P3 Brake Controller

Has anyone fitted one of these to a WK2? Our steering wheel is of course on the right hand side, but because of the under dash "knee air bags" the controller will probably need to be fitted between the column and the door. Is there a plug in harness available for this installation?

I do not get the new Jeep until Friday, but have already purchased the hitch. Dealer supplied hitch is NZ$1860 installed. I managed to purchase the hitch independently from the same supplier that our dealer sources them from, complete with wiring harness for NZ$980 Boy are we getting screwed down under

Cheers Chris

PS, my avatar is the RR wheel, 20" X 9" MAC with 275-45-20 Hankook Ventus tyres from my 2008 WK Overland CRD now sold.

Re: Installing Tekonsha P3 Brake Controller

Didn't know that the JGC had knee airbags. Is it possible these only exist outside of the US? I mounted my P3 down by the driverside under and to the left of the steering column. I hope I didn't puncture anything...

Re: Installing Tekonsha P3 Brake Controller

Yes, that is the part from Tekonsha that connects the unit to the Jeep wiring. Plug and Play. Approx $15 here in the US. Ordered from etrailer.com

As far as knee airbags, it seems, if they exist, they only exist on exported (non-USA) models. See here: http://www.safercar.gov/Vehicle+Shop...?vehicleId=512

Note in the safety features box: "Knee protection: Not available"

In the Overland brochure "Safety & Security Features" :

Air Bags Advanced multistage, full length side curtain driver inflatable knee blocker, and seat mounted side thorax air bag.

My auto sparkie has had a look and is reasonably relaxed about the installation. will post a couple of photos when it has been done.

Has anyone managed to feed a second camera into the backing camera / multimedia screen? I would like to run a rear vision camera from the rear of the caravan as an alternative to the reversing camera when towing.

Cheers Chris
