Key Fob

I lost one of my key fob's, bought a new one, is there an easy way to program it myself on my 2014 GC. The dealers want a lot of money to program it, but the key that it came with is a blank, will the key need to be cut for the fob to work? any help is appreciated!

Re: Key Fob

Unfortunately, it needs to be programmed by someone with the proper equipment to do so...and that pretty much means a dealer. The metal key needs to be cut so it can be used to open the vehicle if there is an electrical failure.

Depends on the area.
..... and whether you've bothered to get to know the dealer, service manager, the writers, etc.

Re: Key Fob

I lost my key fob while running in my neighborhood last night; couldn't find it. Is there a way to deactivate a lost key? Can the dealer do it? I'm afraid someone will find my key and just drive around until they find my driveway (no garage for me).

Losing a FOB is a fear well all have in Oz. I wonder what the dealer will charge to enable a customer provided FOB (bought online from o/s) ?

Re: Key Fob

From my research the o/s fobs are no good for Aust.
I have asked the supplier and he will not guarantee they will work.

I'm buying some "export ones" in for a customers MY14 Laredo, one place i ordered them from told me after 15 days, FCA wouldn't allow USA dealers to buy and on sell "export parts" but they allowed me to order it and took my money via Paypal.

I was able to get my money refunded.

I've found another place so I'll wait till I get them in and make sure they work before I post up here.

I've purchased a chinese (supposedly OEM 4 btn SRT fob) which programmed in with all functions bar starting.
The lock/unlock buttons worked, panic & tailgate worked.
Prox locking/unlocking worked.
But the fob was not detected in the cabin. The only way to start my GC was to push the start button with the tip of the key.

Dealer want's

$117 for blade
$509 for Fob
Then blade needs cutting & Fob programming.

R/R $815 AUD
