Re: Lockpick install writeup

I don't understand why they can't make a harness that plugs right in without bending pins. That seems "rigged" and not what I would expect for what it costs.

Re: Lockpick install writeup

I'm sure the harness is made in china at a reduced cost. The tolerances are VERY small, I've had quite a few other aftermarket wiring harnesses with similar issues.

Quick tip, make sure it works before you put the dash back together. One other person and I both misinterpreted the instructions for dipswitch #2. the instructions say Place switch 2 up if your MYGIG radio does not have a navigation (NAV) button. Place switch 2 DOWN if you MYGIG radio does have a navigation NAV button.

Even though you do have navigation, you don't have a NAV button so put switch 2 up.

Re: Lockpick install writeup

For some reason I thought this would be a software thing...thanks for the write up. I know I don't want to open the dash on my new GC.

Re: Lockpick install writeup

I just received my Lockpick for the WK2. Thank you for the write up, radside: I am going to tackle this project over the "long" weekend. I will report results when it is back together.

BTW, I too was thrown by the jellybeans.

Thumbs up Re: Lockpick install writeup

Alright: Lockpick = installed.

Have the 730N - RHR, and I am curious: what is the connector to on the lowest passenger side of the radio? I thought I kept a close eye on my wire disconnections, and I am 99.97% sure that I reconnected all of the wires to the back of the radio. All functions are working correctly - so I would say that the installation was a success (for the time being) - but what is that open connector area at the lowest right hand of the vehicle for? Does it remain vacant of a connector??

Thanks again for the directions, great write up!!!

Robey

Cool...happy to hear it. As for the connector, I'm not sure, I have the RHB not the RHR. If you are referring to a harness connector, its been awhile since I was digging back there and I don't remember an empty connector...not that it wasn't there...sorry.

OUI!

As long as you put the Iphone/IPOD cable in on the install, you can make it work, and we did so. It is tight!
