Re: Lockpick install writeup

My issue has been that I can't toggle from the rear view if I accidentally press the phone button twice. This is a bit inconvenient if I need to make a call or if I am using navigation. The only way to deactivate the rear view is to turn off the engine and wait for the system to reset before starting the engine again.

Has anyone found another solution to this problem?

I think it has something to do with the activation of the camera. Try turning it off the same way you turn it on. I can't get it to turn on everytime I try to activate it do I'm sure it doesn't turn off everytime it's supposed to either.

Re: Lockpick install writeup

Do you need to have Jeep service do an update on the electronics after installing the lockpick. I think I read that after any new electronic work such as this they need to plug in the computer and make sure everything is OK.

Yup completely plug and play no visit needed. The anti theft came up when I first started it back up after the install and freaked fora second because I thought I might need the code. Turned the whole vehicle off and back on again and no issues. The radio linked back with the vin of the jeep.

Do you have to unplug or disable this when you bring the jeep in for a TSB service or system update? I normally just turn the radio off when I pull in and leave it at that.

Re: Lockpick install writeup

Mine has been still plugged in and the radio on for TSB service/updates and no apparent problems.

Smile Re: Lockpick install writeup

I did though, have a disturbing problem today. Most functions of the CHR550 stopped working, including the backup camera even when shifted into reverse. Not sure if the Nav operation worked while moving, but the DVD video in motion did work. All soft keys while in TV mode were in-operable. Turned the radio on and off, then the Jeep on and off, but that did nothing. So I unplugged the iPod cable and the main cable feeding into the CHR550, with the thought of resetting it.

That did the trick.

All seems OK now, and I am very happy that I have it installed inside the glove box. I would not have been pleased at all if I had to disassemble any of the dash/console to get at it.

Re: Lockpick install writeup

Sorry to revive an old thread. Did you have to remove any other trims to route the lockpick cable from the glove compartment to the radio area?

I had to reset my lockpick also due to a recent trip to the indian reservation, having it accessible would save me a lot of time if it happens again.
