Manually turn on reverse lights

Does anybody here know if there's a way to wire directly to a button to trigger the reverse lights? I want to say that it's just splicing a wire from the ECU that goes to the reverse lights and adding an additional wire to power it from a switch, right? If so - does anybody know which wire it is?

I just replaced all of my reverse lights with LED's and it's pretty dang bright. Would be great for lighting up camp sites / something in the dark, etc.

Thanks!

Pic of how bright my reverse lights are (garage is complete pitch black)

You could turn the car around.

Re: Manually turn on reverse lights

Headlights draw a boatload more juice and can be too bright for setting up camp from a short distance. Do reverse lights work with the "key" in other position, throw it in reverse and use the Ebrake? I'm not crazy about this but, I really doubt it can be done easily through a switch, fingers crossed.

Manually turn on reverse lights

You would have to diode isolate the circuit you want to create.

All you would need is a relay, a couple of diodes, wire and a switch. I did something similar back in the day on a car I brought to car shows. I installed a flasher relay on my reverse lights and taillights to create an alternating pattern.
