I ran the wiring through the hole for the diagnostic port wrapped in loom to protect it from the sharp edges and tada I have controller. It is not in the a knee bashing position or anything. The shop may curse me though. I may have made it difficult to get into port. I think it will work though. Here is a picture
Mine is installed similarly only with Velcro, looks fine and stays on

Vinesh, great work on that P3 in the center console! Was it difficult? Pulling that out intimidates me...

Never mind. Did it without the slightest issue!

Re: Mounting brake controller

I have a P2 and couldn't figure out any good place to mount it other than between the fuel cover release button and hood release lever. I did drill two holes and use two short screws hoping not to hit anything behind the panel. I shimmed the side near the door a little to make it more level as Prodigy directs. Here are a couple pictures.

Do you need to install the 10a fuse in the M3 slot? What is this for?

No need to install a fuse.

I just drove about 1100 miles towing my trailer. The brake controller worked great where I located it.

Re: Mounting brake controller

I have been running with a prodigy p2 for years in my old GC 5.2 and then my 06 Magnum.... decided that the '14 GC deserved a new controller - I just ordered a new Hopkins InSight
InSIGHT? Flex-Mount? Brake Control

we will see how it looks and performs

Re: Mounting brake controller

Have a 2011 Overland. Did anyone have to wire in the adaptor plug supplied or is that for the controller itself.

I just finished installing mine, was really quick, approx 1h. I mounted it in center bin over USB. 2014 Overland BTW.
I went with a Curt Triflex, was on sale on Amazon...

Thanks, sdsyve ! I just finished my installation doing exactly what you did. 2012 Overland, Draw-tite Activator II brake controller. My bracket has left and right side anchoring screws so I was not sure the one bolt you mention would be sufficient, but it certainly was. The female plug was fixed on top of the harness plug above the emergency brake thus not the easiest to plug into, but not a big deal. All controls on the controller are accessible and the readout can be seen easily enough. Unit is totally out of the way of my leg traffic. Could be easily removed and reinstalled if desired, but I see no reason to take it out even temporarily.
All in all, and easy and efficient install.

Re: Mounting brake controller

Bought the Primus IQ brake controller that came with the plug and play and a pigtail so I decided to use the supplied harness that came with the truck, use the pigtail and came up with this for those who do not want to put holes in dashboard and use manual mode on controller.
