Re: need help - hardwiring rader detector

If you're using an add a circuit from the fuse panel under the hood, why not just use a tap and a mini-fuse on the cigarette lighter's hot-wire behind the interior panel? Doing that would probably be less of a PITA, a shorter wire run and a little cleaner of an install. But if you're still going to use an add a circuit, just keep it simple and add it with the cigarette lighter fuse and use the same size fuse.

Is this what you're talking about using?:

I used a blendmount. Mounts to mirror and taps into the back of the mirror. Turns on and off with the ignition that way.

How hard is it to tap power there?

Not hard at all, theres a little door that pops open on the rear of the mirror and all the wires plug in there(with the factory wires). Just make sure you order the micro wires, its a lot easier to fit them in the connections.

http://www.blendmount.com/showthread.php?t=814

You can see the door in the pics, behind that wires run into the mirror and you just piggy back the micro wires into two connections and close the door and your done. If you get the mount, you need the one for the limited/srt8 because the 11s have the bigger mirror stem.
