Re: New ARB Compressor Install WK2

Where'd you get those switches? Much smaller/lower profile than the big ARB toggle (which is what i used). I put the toggle in about the same place as yours, as well as some other switches

Re: New ARB Compressor Install WK2

More info on the compressor install at the rear of the engine bay.

As standard

Plastic shroud removed

ARB compressor mount bracket (from Murchison Products WK2 ARB Air Compressor Bracket | Murchison Products AEV QLD Distributor) that I then bent up to match the existing studs on the suspension tower

Bracket sitting in place

Ran the compressor switch wire (plus UHF antenna and lightbar wiring) into the cabin down through the wiring grommet under the blower fan housing (cant see the grommet in this pic) before mounting the compressor. Not enough room to access the grommet after the compressor is mounted

Bracket bolted down with compressor mount attached

Re: New ARB Compressor Install WK2

Bolted the compressor in via the four rubber mounts. The left rear bolt was extremely hard to get access to. Ended up partially removing the slotted plastic cover under the windscreen to get access.

The switches I used were sourced from ebay. The are available in black or silver with red, white, blue, green or orange illumination.
12V 16mm Blue LED Power Push Button Switch Black Aluminum Metal Latching Type | eBay

The switches only have a very small lip on the front (a few millimetres) so you have to be very accurate when drilling the mounting hole.

12v for illuminating the switches can be sourced from the lighting switch above or fuel fuel release pushbutton. The orange wire on either of these

Re: New ARB Compressor Install WK2

Tidied up the plastic shroud cut a bit, and added an elbow to the air fittings and moved the quick connect for the hose inboard a few inches, so it wasnt pointing straight at the power steering fluid reservoir.

Power for the compressor sourced from the underbonnet terminals (jump starting posts) on the other side of the engine bay.

Re: New ARB Compressor Install WK2

Did you get stickers or something for those switches? Was curious how you got the ARB icons on to those switches.

Nice work.

Could you give us some insight into how you ran your wiring?
It looks like the pictures are pre-wiring, is this correct?

Thanks

Just installed, no plates or drilling, fitted on bracket in front of fuse box.

Perfect fit, two bolts and one extra screw and nut to steady the plate
as it was floating.

Now all I have to do is install my other present, a GME CB Radio..
So how's the install working out after a couple months? I've got a 2014 Summit and the same ARB compressor I removed from a JK Wrangler I traded in. I was look at it today and the bracket with the blank mounting holes is pretty flimsy. It looks like over time it would compromise the plastic clip that supports it.

Re: New ARB Compressor Install WK2

Mine is still holding up fine. Like I said, I added another blot to secure the metal plate to the fuse box. Seems to keep it from moving around.

I'm actually putting in one of those catch cans too, that uses the same plate, and will post some pics soon of what I came up with to get it all to work.

Re: New ARB Compressor Install WK2

Hey, wanted to add some more pics. So I added the catch can in addition to the compressor.

Billet Technology Signature Series Catch Can 2011 and up Jeep 5.7L, Jeep 6.4L and Durango 5.7L

I had to bend the bracket a bit so the fittings on the can would clear the compressor. Very easy, just a vice and a pipe. It moved the compressor forward a bit, but there's still room in the engine compartment.

I also included another closeup of the small bolt I put in to anchor the plate to the fuse box. Seems to hold it secure for now, though I may look around for ways to make it more sturdy.
