Re: New ARB Compressor Install WK2

Has anyone mounted an ARB Single or Twin in a 3.0 Diesel? Anyone done a twin at all?

Seems like everyone here has done a single in a hemi....

Yes, see one post back from your post. I put a single in my CRD. It comes as a kit from Murchison, see WK2 ARB Air Compressor | Murchison Products AEV QLD Distributor

Re: New ARB Compressor Install WK2

I tried installing an ARB single in my American spec diesel using the Murchison bracket - but it would appear that the U.S. vs the Aussie spec are different. The Murchison bracket will not fit - the compressor will hit the brake fluid reservoir.

Good call out, I missed your plastic cover. Sorry about that. But it does look like a much tighter spot than the Hemi's have. I am pretty familiar with Stu and will have to send him a note to pick his brain. I would really prefer to have the twin vs the single.

This is a bummer. Where have you tried to install it since then? I might just order the boxed unit but I really would like to come up with some sort of mounting for it in the engine bay. Granted I didn't really care for that set-up in my wrangler as the compressor always gets really hot from the engine heat and that's before you even try to use it. Just not sure there is a better place in the GC.

Re: New ARB Compressor Install WK2

There's a bit of room directly under the subwoofer Bob... at the very base of the right D pillar. If you lift out the spare wheel surround, you could see if it'll slip in there.

Cheers,
Steve

I did find another thread where someone placed one just to the left of the subwoofer behind the paneling. Very interesting spot. I plan on digging around the vehicle this weekend. Have to see what I can find.

You could be right. Our Aussie Jeeps are RHD and yours are LHD. We have the brake fluid reservoir on the right, the drivers side, so it makes sense that you have it on the left. Stu should have sent you a mirror image bracket, if he even has one. Contact Stu and see if he has a bracket for LHD otherwise he should take the kit back.

So, since you have used the bracket, is there enough room to mount a twin there or not? Or should I just reach out to Stu?

There is precious little room for the diminutive CKMA12 and even so it needs to extent through the black plastic shroud. I'm not exactly sure what the shroud is supposed to do but mine's got a bloody big hole in it now. I think it highly unlikely the double would fit without some serious bodywork. Don't write the CKMA12 off. It packs a punch. It's way better than either of the two el cheapo portables I've owned. It even has its own little cylinder which the portables didn't.

Did you or anyone else ever get an on-board compressor installed in the engine bay or next to the sub-woofer in a US-Spec Diesel?

Stu did indeed offer to take the bracket back - but with a 25% restocking fee. After I paid return post to OZ, the end result would of been almost a net loss. So now I have an Australian piece of custom bent steel on my workbench without a home.

Jason911, I may be interested in buying the bracket from you. Looking to mount ARB compressor below coolant resevoir on 2014 NA diesel. Only place with enough room under the hood. will have to fabricate some sort of bracket to make it work. Let me know if interested in dealing with hassle of shipping and what you would want to get for it.
