Re: New ARB Compressor Install WK2

In regards to your switch being inside the hood: How did you configure your switch? How did you tie in for your accessory power? (Instead of running to the engine switched power)

Re: New ARB Compressor Install WK2

For anyone interested in mounting an ARB compressor on a U.S. Ecodiesel. I ended up installing the on board ARB compressor in the passenger wheel well. I created a mounting plate out of a 5" x 5" x 1/4" aluminum plate so I didn't have to tap into the frame. It bolts to the top and using an existing stud. The air hose is routed to the grill where I need access to the winch anyway. I'm currently waiting on the npt elbow so that the air quick disconnect points downward. The power wiring runs along the harness to the jumper points and the control wiring along the harness in the front bumper fascia where the winch is at. I plan on running the switch wiring through the firewall under the brake and next to the steering column. However, I haven't gotten that far yet. I also plan on routing the air intake higher using 1/2" plastic hose.

Re: New ARB Compressor Install WK2

I am waiting on the murchison bracket to come for mine. ARB currently have the portable compressor on sale for $299 while the onboard one is $313 without the $60 air hose kit. I just ended up buying the portable one and will take it out of the portable box and mount it. End up with a nice little box also for $70 cheaper. Only difference is the compressor doesn't have the air reservoir canister to fit air lockers but I don't need it anyway.

Will post up pics when I have the bracket. Mine an Aussie diesel too by the way.

Re: New ARB Compressor Install WK2

The murchison bracket for the Oz spec Jeeps is incompatible with the US spec jeeps - sadly I know this first hand, as I have a bracket sitting here in Wisconsin that doesn't fit.

Re: New ARB Compressor Install WK2

Are the US models just mirrored in engine bay or can it fit in the opposite side to the aussie one? If so wouldn't be hard to make a mirrored version of the murchison bracket

Great install! One question though, do you have the quadralift suspension? It's kinda hard to tell from the pictures whether the compressor for the quadralift might be in the way if I were to install the ARB compressor where you did...

Re: New ARB Compressor Install WK2

I do not have the quadralift suspension. I have no idea where the pump and control assembly are located for that. The stud I used may very well be one that's used for the QL.

That's it for now. I still haven't mounted the switch. I also plan on putting in a CB (yeah I'm old school.) So I may end up installing the switch at the same time.

What are your CB location ideas? I have mine in the glove box right now but I don't like it...

Re: New ARB Compressor Install WK2

The only two ideas I like so far is next to the passengers left thigh and on the dashboard. I plan on putting a quick disconnect for the wiring and using permanently installed threaded stand offs or studs so I can install it only when necessary.
