New Pennzoil Ultra Platinum Synthetic Oil

Pennzoil announced on April 16th a replacement for their Pennzoil Ultra Synthetic Oil, Pennzoil Ultra Platinum.

First-Of-Its-Kind Synthetic Motor Oil Made From Natural Gas -- HOUSTON, April 16, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --

According to the article, its produced using natural gas, which improves the performance characteristics in comparison to synthetics based on oil. Its also supposed to improve fuel economy by up to 4.1%.

For those of us that have been using Pennzoil Ultra, don't be surprised to see Ultra Platinum on the shelves instead...

Re: New Pennzoil Ultra Platinum Synthetic Oil

Thanks for the heads up.

I'll be interested to read if anyone actually see's that increase in fuel economy after switching to this new Pennzoil oil.

I'd try it myself next oil change, but I only have 1,600 miles on my new Overland, and I have 12 quarts or Mobil 1 at home I want to use up first.

LOL.
Already saw it on the shelf at Wallymart when I bought my oil a few days ago.

I went with Castrol Syntec (or whatever they are calling it now, it's out in the garage so I can't check, too lazy to get up and check).

I used Castrol on my first oil change and after going to Mobil1 I saw a slight decrease in mileage so I'm going back to Castrol.
