Anyone have any idea when the OEM Remote Starter Kit will be available for the 2015 Larado? Or had a aftermarket remote start system installed?

Anyone get a 2014 or 15 without remote start and now want it?

I gave up on the oem one, as Jeep Australia refused to fit it.

I installed the Omegalink 'OL-RS-CH4', easy install and works a dream.

Maybe diffident harness for 2013 on, mine was 2008-2012.., just check the site.

Been in for about 12 Months now..

From my perspective, if i didn't already have the OEM remote start included on my vehicle, I wouldn't mess around adding the OEM.

After market remote starters often work far better and include options you have to pay for through U-Connect for way too much money per month once the trial runs out. For $5-$8 a month, I'd consider it worth it to have the remote app, but not for ~$20 a month. For that money, the key fob control is just fine, thank you.

Plus, the OEM doesn't offer any sort of vehicle feedback during remote starting (even with the U-Connect app), so you really have little idea if the vehicle actually started or is running. After market systems often have those options.

As someone who could live without the remote start, I only have the OEM because it came with the vehicle in the package I got. It's functional, but that's about it.

Unless yours is different than mine, no it doesn't.

It only tells you a remote start was successfully sent or that it failed to communicate with the vehicle.

That doesn't mean it actually started or continued to run after the start request was made.

A lot of two-way after market systems will send you vehicle status info, which the OEM app will not.

Yes.

I attempted it this afternoon (just loosely as a test run to see if it will work before I place everything neatly) but I have hit a small snag.. Because I have a RHD export vehicle (right hand drive) some connectors per the instructions are on the drivers side and some are left over on the the passenger side (which would be the drivers side in a left hand drive vehicle such as in the USA) so I don't have enough wire-length to complete the install this afternoon (stores are closed). Will have another crack hopefully this weekend, although it's ANZAC weekend so I may not have a chance but will keep you all posted on progress.

I had a small confusion between install options but I have the right instructions now (for some reason there is the ability to hook up the fortin to another remote starter, but why would you do that when the fortin unit can handle the remote start, it's weird and confused me, not that that is a hard thing to achieve).

The other small confusion for me is why on earth you have to remove the battery from the OEM remote to program the unit, just weird, it didn't do anything as expected because the battery was removed but anyways, I'll get some more wire lengths and have another go and see if it works, I hope this fortin unit manages to not throw codes (because I have a diesel and it needs to monitor glow plug status).

I missed this hail thankfully.

Ok so today I "completed" the install, and I can say it works!

One caveat- it works, SOMETIMES.

I'm about to go thru the motions of technical support with fortin (that I'll be fun given the time differences) but it will only start the car sometimes, which is strange. It's like the key hopper/decryptor key doesn't always register to start the car (basically it uses an over-ride as far as I can tell, but that code changes, and it doesn't always start the car).

I'll keep you posted on how good fortin are with technical support, all the wiring is ok, basically if I reprogram the module it works the first time, every time. After the initial remote start it won't seem to start the car again for another few attempts.. I tried just about everything I could think of, from keeping the OEM remote out of range during start attempt etc but to no avail. If I program the module and install it back in the vehicle it will remote start successfully first go every go, but not subsequent attempts (until about the 8th go at it or there abouts).

Anyways, I've pulled it out and tucked the harness up under the centre console for now until I get somewhere with fortin.

Cheers, keep you posted.

wkrichard, I can't recall if that was the exact part number (I think it was), but I'm having no issues with mine. I did have it installed by the dealer so if there were any issues it is under warranty. Hope this helps

No update from me, I pulled everything out back to factory spec and the fortin unit is sitting in a box in my storage unit. I will play with it again once I move house and such (life got in the way).

Planning on taking some annual leave when it's moving time so will revisit it then, will post results when that happens.
