I don't remove the "skid plate" but, one tip for all: Watch the radiator hose next to the filter on the 5.7....if you nick it with a tool or the "semi-sharp" edge of a filer wrench, it could let go under pressure somewhere not so nice....not much clearence there....

Anyone use the quick change ball valves? Just did my first oil change and installed one.

That's the easy part. You must not like the exfoliating properties of 5w-20 oil on your hands and arms. Which brand valve did you go with? I'm thinking of trying it out on my truck. We use the Fut??? ones on our heavy haul trucks at work?

I used the Fumoto valve. I still manage some 5-20 skin treatment from the filter.

Re: Oil changes - SO easy

Anyone who changed the Oil and Filter on the 2014 ECO-Diesel. Seems to be more challenging.

Re: Oil changes - SO easy

The VM Diesel motor is very easy with the right tools (sockets and torque wrench!) and a little patience. It takes about 30 minutes for ALL the oil to drain out. You need to remove the engine cover and get the large air hose out of the way (two clamps).
You can then remove the oil filter cover before you remove the engine drain plug and allow the oil to drain from the filter fitting. I just wiped mine out after it drained out into the sump.

I also installed a Fumoto Drain valve the first time I did mine !

Do a search on the Forum and you'll find some easy peasy instructions !

Re: Oil changes - SO easy

F106 or F106N - your choice.

I bought the F106N (w/nipple) and the hose so I can direct the oil into a container !

I buy my own oil and take it to the dealer. They charge me about $20 for the filter and the oil change. The biggest savings for me is only having to change the oil twice a year.

Re: Oil changes - SO easy

Get the F106S ... has the option to attach the 3/8 hose, but doesn't stick out like the F106N. I have it on my 2012 JGC and love it ... with the V6 cartridge filter and fumoto valve, easiest oil change ever.

Sorry, MY BAD - senior moment!

In my earlier post I said the F106N.......that SHOULD HAVE BEEN F106S with the hose and plastic adapter.
