Hey all,

I am trying to figure out which wire in the overhead console is the hot/switched wire. I do not have a voltmeter. I want to tap into it, to hotwire a radar detector. Here is a pic -

Thanks in advance!

Oh. Thats for a WK. The WK2 has a different harness. The hot wire from the WK I believe is the yellow/pink wire. The WK2 is different.

Anyone else? Thanks B.P.O.D. for the help regardless!

Thanks BPOD and OR, I may take a crack at this with a voltmeter this week. I like the visor wire route. Santa just happened to drop a new Passport in my front seat.

OR, is that harness the same that wires the rear view mirror?

Its super simple. I had it in my BMW, no problem. Always on when the car comes on, and turns off when you kill the ignition. We just need the hot wire...I have the how to ready to go with pics!

'08Hemi, saw your post earlier, really starting to like the driver's side mount. Keeps it in front of pilot, out of rest of windshield, and outta site from anyone looking in driver's window. Does that provide the line of site out of rear window for backside protection?

perfect line of sight! our windshield curves to the a-pillar, so it actually points directly out the middle of the two rear headrests and right through the middle of the window. I mocked it up in 4 or 5 places and to me that was by far the best spot. like you said - not visible, yet great visibility out of the vehicle. backside protection in full effect :)

Sorry to bring up an older thread, but I require a always powered source, a switched powered source and a ground. So am I correct in saying...

The RD/WT wire(which Overland Ryan says is actually Pink) is the always powered source?

The Yellow/Blue "Reading lamps driver" wire is a switched power source?

Black wire is a ground?

I finally got around to hard wiring the radar detector. The info in this thread was extremely helpful but I did want folks to know the way the reading/entry/security lights work makes the power come on to the detector when you enter the car but it will turn it off when you turn the jeep off but it will turn it back on as soon as you go to open your door but obviously turns off after the set time for the entry lights to turn off. It is kind of annoying but I couldnt really find any other wire that would work any better. Just a FYI if anyone was courious

Again thanks for this thread

Does anyone know what the #2 (grey) UGDO enable circuit is for sure. Power to UGDO?. I want to change the UGDO to only work with ignition on. This way when vehicle is in the Driveway it does not give easy access to the house. Found a wiring diagram on Mitchell's site. This Grey wire is listed as UGDO DISABLE and traces back to the instrument cluster. Thinking if this is o=power to UGDO the just switch to a "switched" circuit.

Thanks

Does anyone have the wiring diagram for 2014 onwards as it appears to be different to what’s posted above. I’ve now installed 3 different consoles due to homelink not working when I got the car but none of them work so assume it’s a wiring issue
Thanks
