[PICS]V6 engine air filter + cabin air filter

I took some pictures of a brand new Mopar air filter for the V6 Pentastar. I also took a few pictures of the Mopar(MicronAir) cabin air filter.

The engine air filter is made in the USA and is really well made. The cabin air filter, also made in the USA, is fragile, but for a cabin air filter it should do the job just fine.

As of this writing, only Mopar carries the V6 air filter and the cabin air filter.

V6 engine filter part # : 4861756AA
Cabin air filter part # 68079487AA

I'm guessing in time, 3rd party manufacturers(ie. Fram, Napa, etc) will be coming out with their own.

Thanks for the pics.

I was wondering if it had the same Cabin Air Filter as my wifes 09 KK. Unfortunately not

Up behind the glove box.

You open the glove box, then you pull out/remove the black plastic cover located above the glove box. The cabin air filter is behind there. I will take some pics later on!

Re: [PICS]V6 engine air filter + cabin air filter

Ok here are some pics on how to access the Cabin Air Filter.

  • In the first picture, you need to remove this black plastic cover thingy. You just pull on it and it come's off.
  • The 2nd pic shows this black plastic cover once removed.
  • In the 3rd picture, you see the Cabin Air Filter door. Press that black tab pointed by the red arrow towards the passenger side and the door swings open.
  • In the last picture you see the Cabin Air Filter itself. Voila!

Re: [PICS]V6 engine air filter + cabin air filter

Thanks for this information. Didn't occur to me these things existed, but then that's not so new an experience. So tell me, how often should cabin filters be replaced, and do they do much good? I understand after a quick read that fogging is a result of their being clogged. Given how foggy I often am, I might not have noticed, but now I want to clear the air on this. I will stop.

Re: [PICS]V6 engine air filter + cabin air filter

Thats great thanks for the picks.

Now I wounder is it filtering the outside air coming in, or the recerculated air in the cab?
How can we work this out?
Maybe a questoin for Milous.

I would like to know as I travel in the desert a lot with work on gravel roads and bulldust.

Re: [PICS]V6 engine air filter + cabin air filter

Great good to know.
It should be a decent filter system then.
Not like my currant GC wj, installed the outside air filter to find the air was bypassing it around the wiper area not being sealed.
