Possible lock for spare tire cover on WK2?

I wonder if anyone here has made a way lock the spare tire cover in the back of a 2015 Grand Cherokee.

I am looking to bolt on a small vault to the carpeted cover but would like make sure the cover also stays secure.

That's a tough one. Perhaps you can use the safe as the lock. Try slipping a threaded rod through a hole inside the safe thru the floor of the safe and the carpeted cover. Hook it to the spare tire wheel and bolt it down to the floor of the safe.

Pretty good idea. I've already got it bolted to the cover but I may look for something long enough to hook it to the wheel.

I think you'd need to also hinge the interior end, otherwise it be easy to pry open the front of the cover..

YMMV

Re: Possible lock for spare tire cover on WK2?

why don't you go with a locking t- handle latch set up ( like what you would see on a locking pop up truck bed cover). It would have to be fabricated but the design would work flawlessly. You can use the pop up style to keep it from being bulky and allowing you to also carry things in the cargo area without losing cargo space. So basically you turn the center t-handle which would move two steel rods ( one to each side ) unlocking the back cover. A insert locking point for the rods would have to be made as well . It wouldn't be too hard to make . Also like what tinman said hinging the back would be necessary for this to work . Then if you really want to go all out make it so when the latch is unlocked 2 hydraulic prop rods lift the cover exposing your arsonal. Similar to what the punisher would have . Wow I think I want to fabricate this myself now lol
