Printed Service Manual

For our previous 2002 Jeep Grand we purchased (about $100) our own copy of the same 2" thick Service Manual used by Jeep dealer service departments. This manual is well worn from all our changes and reading over the last 10 years.

For our new 2012 Jeep Grand Overland I am looking for the same technical Service Manual. Today a Jeep dealer Service Manager told me they have used the same type of paper Service Manuals up to the 2010 model year.

But things have changed starting with 2011 (WK2) model year everything is digital only and he does not know of a paper copy. Every tech has his own computer terminal and the shop has been coverted to WiFi everywhere. These computer files are not available to owners.

Does anyone know of a paper source or downloadable PDF files for the technical Service Manual that show wiring diagrams, how things work, etc?

I am aware of downloadable files for Owner manual, User manuals, Radio manuals. But not how things are wired, etc.

I just realized that this topic has has been asked before. Sorry for the duplication, but it looks like many would like it but no one can find it.

Thanks,
Barry

Re: Printed Service Manual

I cannot find a printed or electronic Service Manual for our 2012 Jeep Grand. I wish I could find it. Let the group know if anyone can find a way to get a copy, even an electronic copy.

Re: Printed Service Manual

I just checked for one a few days ago with my MOPAR vendor and was told they are not yet available for the WK2 series vehicles yet.

Re: Printed Service Manual

I think that Chrysler stopped printing paper service manuals about 2010 and now only has digital service manuals that may only be available to authorized Jeep dealers.

I have heard they are in several digital sections, like body, engine, etc. And that wiring diagrams are not even very complete for Jeep dealers.

Sounds like a mess in the market place for owners. What are we to do in later years?

I hope someone finds other info on availability of service manuals.

Re: Printed Service Manual

You might take a look at a single vehicle subscription to Mitchell Manuals or ALlldata. They are based on and/or direct copies of the OEM Manuals.
Mitchell URL is: www.eautorepair.net/Marketing/Default.asp
Alldata URL is www.alldatadiy.com

Re: Printed Service Manual

Thanks for the technical documention links.

I have a friend who owns an auto repair shop and uses Mitchel-1 computerized technical repair data. I helped him set up his computer and saw how complete the data is.

I had no idea that it was available for personal use and at a reasonible cost. Mitchel is $30/year and AllData is $27/year or $45 for 5 years.

But both of the above do not have personal tech data available for Jeep model year 2011 and 2012, so I am back to sitting on my hands. But I probably will have the chance to buy their data when our Jeep is two years old.

Thanks for the find

Yes, your correct. I have an AlldataPro account and there is nothing but TSB's for the WK2 along with some very basic and generic diagrams of door panels. It will be a waiting game I suppose.

Re: Printed Service Manual

3rd party information for service procedures is still quite lacking.
