Rear trunk chrome piece

Hello I was trying to see what the best way to have the piece in chrome with jeep on it removed to either pant it or get a new one in black. Is there any other way to make it black without removal. Thanks.

Re: Rear trunk chrome piece

it pulls off VERY easy. Start in the middle just below the "jeep" Use a trim stick or just your fingers and work them under the chromed piece and slowly work your way around. It just snaps on and is help by small strips of 3m tape.

Re: Rear trunk chrome piece

Trim stick to cut through the 3m tape will also make it easier. That stuff is actually pretty sticky. Work it from the bottom. Otherwise, what Scott said, it just snaps off with a few clips once you've got the 3m tape separated.

You could get this:

Altitude Edition Black Tailgate Handle - Item # 5LL22DX8AA

I've thought about doing this myself on my black '13 overland. Would love to see pics if you do it!

Re: Rear trunk chrome piece

the lock button alos comes off very easily when the outer portion of the brow is removed. It can then be painted
