Rear wiper

First post! Just bought my 2013 Jeep GC on saturday and I love it. Been on this forum for the past 48 hours just reading and reading and reading. Everyone is so helpful and im excited to be apart of this community. So far Ive only debadged my car but more modifications will follow. I was wondering is it possible to take the rear wiper completely off? I don't like the wiper path marks it leaves when its used and rather just take it off completely to hand clean the back window. Any tips, pointers, instructions would be awesome

Re: Rear wiper

Heres the finished product. I left the one part on so I can pull up the glass when I need to.

Re: Rear wiper

Glad to see you figured that out. But I drove to work this morning in the rain and sure needed that rear window wiper. But it's your Jeep & if that makes you happy then so be it. Does make the rear glass look a little cleaner that way.

Re: Rear wiper

I must admit it looks much better without the wiper. It takes away the minivan look. I might consider doing the same.

Re: Rear wiper

Yeah I'm happy with the way it turned it. I like the no wiper look. Had some rain today and no issues at all. I think I used my rear wiper on my other car about 3 times in 5 years so i figured why not get rid of it!

Re: Rear wiper

That does look pretty good!
BTW, put 2 coats of Rain-X on that window. You won't need a wiper.

Do you have a write up of how you did this? I would definately be interested in removing mine as well, I rarely use it and it creates unneccessary streaks lol

Re: Rear wiper

Unfortunately I don't have a write up. Its not too bad once you get started, basically just a bunch of unscrewing a lot of parts. If you decide to do it, don't be afraid to put a little muscle behind it. Some parts are kind of hard to pull off. Also, once you get the wiper off and the motor removed, their will be a whole in the glass from where the wiper becomes attached to the motor, this is where I put the tab to pull up the glass. All I used was a basic black nut a bolt and the plastic piece that comes with the car and i think it looks fine, make sure its tight so when it rains water doesn't get through. I also put the plastic casing that holds the motor inside the car back on to store the wiper wires, or else they will be just hanging there.
