Roadmaster Quiet Hitch Anti-Sway Bar

When I first bought the 2012 GC Overland, not long afterwards I purchased a Go Rhino black step hitch. Soon afterwards, due to some chattering, I bought a hitch receiver silent lock:

Recently - I noticed noise coming from the rear of the Jeep, and thought it was from the spare tire or storage compartments - or even the flashlight!
I checked all those out and ruled them out.

I figured out that the hitch receiver was chattering over rougher roads - and the noise really bugged me. I purchased a Roadmaster Quiet Hitch Anti-Sway bar, which was quite simple to install.

It is basically just a 4 inch U bolt with nuts. The only problem I ran into was that the Go Rhino step hitch has a black knurled knob you tighten with a metal bracket underneath the hitch, and the quiet hitch barely fit.

Here are some top and bottom views of the mount - the hitch receiver doesn't budge at all anymore and the noise that bugged me - is gone!

Bottom:

I bought this item from Amazon but had I known would have just gone to a hardware store and purchased a 4 inch U bolt which would probably have worked just about as well.

P.S. Sorry, I didn't wash the knurled cap before these images

No problem - I've been very happy with the results (no chatter or play in hitch anymore).

Actually there is another set of jam nuts that go on - but I couldn't get enough thread to even worry about it. It's tight & you're right - barely fit! Without the step hitch it would be fine.

Does the step interfere with your backup sensors?
