RRO Lift Tips

There are a number of great threads already posted on the RRO lift but I wanted to add my 2 cents. As mentioned in this thread
Rocky Road Outifitters 2.5" Lift Install
you definitely want to have replacement CV Joint clamps and grease on hand. We popped out the CV on the drivers side but did not have to remove the boot to get it back it. Jacking up the control arm while moving the axle by the wheel bolts pushed it back in.

The driver side was a PITA due to how much shorter the axle is. Here we had to remove the upper boot clamp since it looked like it was streched to the point of ripping. Using 2 spring compressors on the spring and a compression strap on the strut got it to the point where we could get it back into position. Unfortunately we could not get the CV joint back in because the axle was hitting the bottom of the strut. We put a steel rod through the bottom of the strut and used that as a jack point to get it aligned with the bolt holes on the control arm. Once that was attached we were then able to jack up control arm enough to further compress the strut giving us more play on the axle to get the CV joint back in.

One last point, I also install longer sway bars from BWoody Performance shop in MD. Great experience talking with the shop to ensure the correct length was ordered but the install directions were not very helpful. There are no reference points indicating which side is towards the vehicle and which side is away. Additionally the front sway bars are left and right specific but again its impossible to tell by the instructions which is which.

The lift was completed by 3 ppl over the course of 2 days. First day we completed the rear and front passenger in about 8 hours. The front driver side took just under 4 hours the second day. On Wednesday a shop will install 275/70/18 Goodyear Silent Armors on XD Monsters 18x8 +35 offset. Cant wait to finish it off!

The below pics show the CV joint out as well as the joint interior. Also the factory sway bar vs the sway bar from BWoody as well as the proper mounting of the front driver bar.
