Seatback Trim Removal

Since I'm posting this in the DIY category, I'll keep the details brief.

I felt like something was poking me in the low back of the driver's seat. I had the seatback trim cover off several times trying various fixes and due to improper removal of the trim cover, I wound up breaking several of the clips and bending (bendgate?) the trim panel permanently. I got a new panel and directions for proper installation of the panel were included in the box. This can be done with the seat still in the vehicle.

Removal of the panel is similar: pull the panel out at the bottom starting with clips 9 and then 10 (takes a good quick pull), then, place the palms of your hands slightly inside of where the #6's are, push in and then downward in one motion. The panel should fall into your hands.

Too bad I didn't know this in advance. Doing it the recommended way makes for a simple removal without deforming the panel.

Re: Seatback Trim Removal

Thanks for the info. I have been having issues with my drivers seat as well (2014 GC w/ ventilated seats). It feels like there is popping in the lumbar area. I researched this online and others have said that one of the seat pieces is too short, so there is separation, which causes the cracking/popping sound. I have been looking for ways to fix this issue, but they all would involve removing the seatback cover. Has anyone else had a similar issue with their drivers seat?

I had the lumbar popping for a few weeks in the summer. It magically stopped after a few weeks. (MY2011)
