The dealer near where I work charged me $13 for the Mopar filter and it didn't come with a new gasket. The next one I got from the AMSOIL website (when I also ordered the oil) was a WIX filter for less than $6 and came with a new gasket. Next time I'll try the local NAPA for the WIX filter and see if pricing is better there than AMSOIL on-line.

Re: Sourcing Oil Filter 2012 3.6 V6

You are free to use whatever you want:

For these built in filter housings I always go OEM or an equivalent Aftermarket brand.
When I owned VWs I used OEM and if I bought the Aftermarket they were either MANN or HENGST and I think that HENGST is the current supplier for the pentastar oil filter.

When it comes to Screw on filters I have a few brands of choice

I went to my local dealer looking to buy some oil filters for both my JGC and they wanted 18 each. For the that price I was able to order a 6 pack from someone on ebay for the price of two locally.

The air filters seem to be overpriced though everywhere I checked they were at least 25 dollars each I am tempted to just buy a reusable filter and be done with it.

Re: Sourcing Oil Filter 2012 3.6 V6

Have the oil filters went up? I bought one back in the early spring when mine had 1500 miles on it and I think I paide $7 or $8 for it at the dealer. I have a couple of motorcycles and one is a Suzuki and I recently found out that their oil filters have went from $8 to about $18 so maybe it is some kind of bad trend!

Wouldn't surprise me from the dealers.

I just ordered a 10 pack of mopar filters for the 3.6 on ebay for $35, $3.50 a filter is hard to beat.

Whenever I buy the Mopar Cartridge filter, the o-ring is always in the bottom of the box that the filter comes in. I would have had a word with the service manager about that. I have changed out the filter on my JK many times with a Mopar filter and they always have the o-ring.
