tips on how to keep a black jeep clean?

hello, im the proud of owner of a new 2013 Jeep GC with a Brilliant Black Crystal Pearl Coat Exterior. with my limitted knowledge it is impossible to keep it looking clean. I have an unlimited membership at the locatl Mr car Wash, and even after a thorough car wash as soon as I make it home, it start to look dusty with dried water marks from the water that was stuck in the mirrors and other spots.

any advice on how to keep this black car looking clean inside and out.

The ownership of a black vehicle is one of the rights of passage to adulthood. You have now passed that hurdle and for the future will have learned from your experience. You are now a wiser person.

Re: tips on how to keep a black jeep clean?

People here at Jeep Garage suggested Optimum No Rinse. I got it and use it on my Brilliant Black Overland. Works great.

I got this one here from Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Optimum-Rinse-...timum+no+rinse. They have a smaller size too: http://www.amazon.com/32oz-Optimum-R...timum+no+rinse

It only takes 1 ounce and two gallons of water so that is good for 128 washes. It doesn't scratch or swirl the paint. Just follow the directions and have at least three clean dry high quality microfibers which I get from autogeek.net - http://www.autogeek.net/cobra-miracle-towels.html They have several to choose from though.

You can also mix an ounce with water in a spray bottle for in between cleanings.

Re: tips on how to keep a black jeep clean?

Here is what I do. Wash it. Dry it off then go drive around around 40mph for a couple miles. Once you get back home all the remaining water should be out from the seals, mirrors, roof rack etc and then you dry it again. Make sure to put your windows down and up a few times to get that water out then dry windows again. Do not own a dark vehicle now but I still maintain my old habits.

Re: tips on how to keep a black jeep clean?

Here's the trick. Park it in the garage. Don' let it move from there. Every few hours go to it and wipe down with a microfiber towel with quick detailer.

Black shows water marks and every bit of crud on the paint, so first you have to get it clean then apply something that will make the crud not stick so easily.

Take a few microfiber towels with you to the car wash. If they have a spot free rinse then opt for that cycle. When it's done, park the car in the shade and immediately dry it off with the microfiber. Use one towel and dry the entire car from top to bottom, squeezing the water out of the towel as you go. Work on the bugs and stuck crud with that towel as a last step, as they will be soft from the wash. Then use one or more fresh towels and get the vehicle completely dry and clean.

I'd suggest using Liquid Glass or a similar product to seal the paint after you get it clean. A proper application takes two coats with a 4 hour cure time between coats (in the garage), then get the vehicle in the sun to bake it in. If done right it will last you 6 months, and then you can follow with another coat twice/ year.

Always park next to a dirtier one. I worried at first, but now the dirt makes it look "loved"

I learned what a mistake it was to own a black car. I purchased an 87 Buick Grand National new back then and since then, I only but white vehicles. Takes a lot of grime to make it look dirty, and even then, you have to be within 10 feet to notice it.
