Towing a2014 Grand Cherokee WK2

I have a 2014 Grand Cherokee Limited that I'm going to start towing behind my MH. It has the keyless system and was wondering if I have to put it into ACC to unlock the steering? I have parked it on gravel with the engine off and the keyless in Off and turned the wheel and it does not appear that the steering was wheel was locked. I know that Wranglers do not have to have the key turned on and was wandering if the Grand Cherokee was the same?

Thanks
Butch

And yes it has the Quadra Trac II drive system for towing. I have gone through all the set up for towing and know how to put the transfer case in neutral for towing.

Owners manual says nothing about ACC position (page542). I assume it's not necessary.

My old 2002 jeep liberty had to be in ACC to tow, but it had a key.

You should just be able to put it in flat tow mode and it should be fine.

Just be sure to install a tire pressure monitor for the Jeep up in the MH cab. If you get a flat on the jeep and the tire decides to shred, you could drag the Jeep for miles without realizing it. You'll also want a brake controller for the Jeep, as well. You don't want close to 5000lbs pushing on the hitch every time you need to stop.

These folks recently bought a used GC to tow behind their motor home and have had good results:

Thanks for the reply,

I have tire monitors and have been using them for years. I use to pull 5th wheel trailers and ran them all the time.

I also have a RVIBrake2 that I use in the Jeep. I wouldn't pull a rig behind my MH without one even though our MH is rated to tow 10,000# I still want a brake on it.
