Transfer Case

I recently bought a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee that is full time 4x4 and it is due for my 1st oil change. How often does the oil in the transfer case have to be changed?

Thanks

Re: Transfer Case

It's personal preference, I don't believe in "lifetime" oils. They are supposed to inspect it based on the service schedule.

I had a transmission failure at 39,000 miles. So at 50,000 I had the transfer and differential changed for $170 at my dealer just to be on the safe side. Check for coupons through the Jeep Owner's link at FCA. You can sometimes take a regional dealer's coupon to your local one and see if they will honor it. You will also see a difference in what each one charges for similar services. They can vary dramatically.
