Question upgrading to aftermarket speakers DIY

Is it simple to replace the original front and rear speakers to aftermarket speakers ?
Will appreciate to have a DIY guide starts from how to open the speaker covers (including the sub's) and how to replace the speakers.

Thanks.
Yagil

You can find diagrams and answers here:

The Sub looks to be a real PITA to get at....I can tell you the the dash speaker is a piece of cake. That's the first one I started with.

I highly recommend crutchfield.com. You enter your vehicle and it will tell all exactly what fits, what your options are, etc.

Yes -- I found an older, but new set of Alpine 3.5" on ebay. They are Made in Korea (not China), and sound pretty good. Alpine hasn't made a 3.5 in a few years. I also replaced the dash speakers of my previous Aspen Alpine system. It really crisps up the highs -- as the stock dash speaker is horrible. The front doors will be next...then remodel sub enclosure, and replace OE Sub.

Is there only one 3.5" speaker in the dash on the WK2? If so, do you know if the signal to it is a combined left and right channel signal when you are listening to a stereo source? I've been trying to decide on a good replacement for this speaker because I completely agree that the stock "preumium" one is no bueno. I haven't really found any information on it so far. Crutchfield seems to be ignoring the fact that this speaker exists. I really don't understand why this speaker is even there because a good set of left and right components can sound amazing, and are there really a lot of people out there listening to 5.1 surround in their vehicle?

Any info is much appreciated.

Greetings all,

The front dash contains only one 3.5 inch speaker. From my understanding, the space is extremely tight to install an 4 inch speaker unless you are going to perform modifications.

The Alpine system is suppose compete (in theory) with systems such as JBL/Harman's Logic 7. The speaker is designed for multimedia recording source's to bring out the vocals the same way as in the home theater system. My guess is after all these years with folks that have some sort of home theater setup, they feel a good many of us is conditioned to listen to L/C/R setup.

You can also use a quality 3/3.5 inch midrange woofer or full range speaker since most information is between 100 Hz and 12,000 Hz. Try looking at partsexpress.com or madisonsound.com.

Best for now.
