Re: V-LEDS 5k DRL Replacement

Just a little confused. Our DRL, are they also our high beams? If so won't replacing them with LED's mean we won't have high beams anymore?

Is there a difference in bulbs between the HID and non-HID version of our headlights? In a different thread it was said that the bulb was a 9005 instead of 3157.

Edit: Ok, answered my own question. I didn't realized the HID was both the high and low beam.

Re: V-LEDS 5k DRL Replacement

I've had REALLY good luck with the Putco Nova 3157 leds. The light output is great and Putco/ XenonDepot's customer service is second to none!! One of my lights went out last week and I had a new bulb on my door step three days later with no questions asked!

+1 for a great vendor.

Does this bulb simply plug and play? I am looking to whiten the DRL on my 2012 Overland. Is the link for the Neutron above the exact product I should order?

Re: V-LEDS 5k DRL Replacement

Old thread, but some info that may help others, as I've been researching about DRL replacement with LEDs. In the past two months both of my OEM DRL bulbs have failed (about 22 month old vehicle). Very poor performance, considering that my previous DRL-vehicles have had OEM bulbs that lasted 9-10 years. So I'll be replacing the Halogens with LED.

V-LED, the vendor of the bulbs used by HemiPowerV8 to start this thread, now has a note on the bottom of their web page for these bulbs (at 5K WHITE PLATINUM 20 LED 7W BACK-UP/TURN SIGNAL LIGHT BULBS 3157 3156 4057 | 1 PAIR), namely:
"WARNING
Not for use in DRL applications, will void warranty."

and, as per Post#35 of this thread by the OP, the V-LEDs have not performed well in the DRL application.

So I'll likely go with the LEDs as per J13ntv's sticky thread about the Putco/XenonDepot LED conversions.

One question: Did the user test of the Neutron LED bulbs mentioned by Steve in Post#28 above ever occur?

I know this was from YEARS ago, but just stumbled upon this and maybe someone searching will eventually stumble upon my post.

In the Audi world, there was a way to get rid of the "amber" color of the bulbs:
