V8 HEMI oil change - AGAIN, SORRY

Am bit confused about V8 HEMI oil change...

The manual for export says:

SAE 5W-30 engine oil approved to MB 229.31 or MB 229.51 may be used when SAE 5W-20 engine oil is not available.

But USA manual says:

Vehicles equipped with a 5.7L engine must use SAE 5W-20 oil.
Failure to do so may result in improper operation of the Multiple Displacement System (MDS).
Lubricants, which do not have both the engine oil certification mark and the correct SAE viscosity grade number,
should not be used.

So what is the true?
If SAE 5W-30 can be used for export, why for USA thet say "MUST" use SAE 5W-20?

Thanks for clarify....

Re: V8 HEMI oil change - AGAIN, SORRY

good question
my guess is US version MDS is programmed different for example differenet engagement point.
for US i'd definitely only go with 5w20. if you went with 5w30 and got some funky error codes from the MDS, it would be hard to explain to a dealer why you went with 5w30 when 5w20 is so readily available, not to mention part of their job is to find absolutely anything NOT to cover you in case something needs warranty work ;p

btw it's not a huge difference in viscosity since not all 5w30 or 5w20's are the same, there's thinner side and thicker side 5w30s and 5w20's respectively, depending on the brand...more importantly imo would be using 5w20 for warranty purposes....

For the Hemi V8 stick with 5W-20 or 0W-20. Go synthetic if you can. MDS works better with synthetic oil

I think the problem is like Australia were 5-20 or 0-20 just is not available.
I Have been trying for months in Oz to find 5-20.
I see it online in Oz but then call the supplier they don't have it.
Or red-line does $120 quart.

I changed the oil and filter at 2000km just for the hell of it, I used castrol edge full synthetic 5w-30, has 8200km on it now no probs runs fine.... also, its not listed yet but a ryco z516 filter fits, wonder if they know that yet....

if i recall correctly the 5w-20 USA rec is likely for fuel economy rating. The viscosity difference between 5w-20 and 5w-30 is close. For MDS and warranty concerns i will follow the manufacturer recs for now. full synthetic is the only way to go, imo
