Finally got around to exploring the wiring of the mirrors for the Invisicord and once I got it, put on the BlendMount also.

The BlendMount is a much better mount than my previous I used with my Valentine One in my G37S. More solid, better design, much easier install!

Here are some pictures as they are pretty self explanatory and what everyone scrolls down to anyway.

The wiring to tap the mirror for power is:

Black = Ground
Pink/Green = Power

I remember the question of 8" or 12" Invisicord and 8" is what I used and probably a 6" would be perfect.

Nice work OP. Looks great and the blendmount is a very high quality piece.

Unfortunately, I can confirm that the blendmount will NOT fit the Overland mirror as there is no stem from windshield to mirror on which to mount the part.

Nice work, looks good! I too did this myself last spring and loved the look and functionality.

Now just add the concealed display for some extra gadgetry haha. Its unnecessary in my
opinion but does allow you not to have to look to far off the road pending where you mount it.

Picked up our Overland yesterday and installed mine with the invisacord this afternoon. However I had the ground going to the white....noticed when I went to put it into gear the radar would cut off when in reverse and then power back on when in drive. I will have to go back out and switch it over to the black wire to see if it makes a difference. Installed the power to the same pink/green wire that you did.

i dunno guys i totally get that you need the function of the detector but all of those pics look hidous IMO. how valentine can't build a unit 1/3 the size of that is beyond me. better yet, something stealth like under the hood with a small meter in the car.

Have you tried the green/pink wire with apwr on?

green and pink wire is not correct for a escort and a loredo 2011. That much I can confirm for 100% sure. I want that hour of my life back ! Reads 14V on the escort when i rig it up with yellow to green and whit and black to black. Officially give up,
So you get no power on at all with green/pink? Or just no power to radar when you start the Jeep?

Do you get the radar to come on with ignition with the 'yellow to green and whit and black to black'? Or still manual?

Thanks for the help TTUMBIO I'd love to get this working here is exactly what I'm getting.

When put the yellow into the " green and Pink" wire and the black into "the black wire"

The radar detector will NOT power on with ignition but turns on if I hit the "PWR" But. The display on the solo S2 just reads "Auto" and in the corner it reads "14.9V" which it normally does not have a volt measurement. Radar is set to "apwr MTN and I toggled to "apwr time" never used the setting "apwr off"

No I have not tried a " a green and white wire" I will try that tomorrow. Everything I found said to put the yellow end in the "green/Pink" black on the "black"

thanks again in advance

Wait.....is your Escort S2 the same as the Escort Solo S2, which is battery powered or optional 12V?

If so, that is the problem. The Solo series was not designed to be hardwired off battery power, which also means it can not be hardwired even when using a direct 12V. A friend had this issue 4-5 years ago when we were working on his. Pretty much any non-battery powered radar detector will power on with ignition.

If you can swing $400, then you can get one of the top, if not the best, radar detector on the market - Valentine One. I have had Escorts, two or three different Beltronics, and none really come close to the Valentine One in performance. The only downside is that is it pretty ugly and 1990s-made looking, but the insides are what count.

If you would like to stay under/at $300, then I believe the Passport 8500 X50 Red would be one of the top radar detectors at that range. There is now a Passport 9500ix, which a friend has, and when compared with the V1 - almost identical. That one runs around $500 I think.

Hope that helps! Sorry the S2 can not be hardwired. Seems like something that should have been possible only when on 12V.

I'm a big fan of SOLO 3 (the newest battery detector) I have a valentine (brand new) returned it w/30 days for full refund.. loved it.. but the new solo 3 with batteries.. I can move from car to car.. it detects radar really far away.. trust me I was surprised-- it auto mutes.. it auto turns off/on (in case you forget) its dark ALL the time unless it's detecting.. like the opposite of my gf.. who bitches all the time and never shuts her trap.

Oh and if you ask about battery life-- had it 4-5 months now.. same two AA batteries- LOVE IT!

I get it arrows are cool.. but at the end of the day-- when a detector beeps.. you slow down. regardless of angle of popo approach.

I'm having a nightmare of a team trying to install this invisicord for use with my V1. I'm using black-->black and yellow-->pink/green, pushing the pins into the back of the harness and it's just not making a connection. I've tried it from all different sides of the wires, been at this for about two hours now.

It's not the invisicord and I know I have the right wires because I can push the pins into the holes in the front of the harness that correspond to the black and pink/green wires and my V1 powers right up. It's just not making a connection when I push them into the back of the harness no matter what I do.

Any pointers?

I did mine s while ago but I can try.

Mine was 07 non uconnect non auto dim.

Its easier to do with the mirror disconnected from the windshield mount. Its one screw you loosen and mirror disconnects. Now looking back of mirror with harness plugged into mirror you know which wires. So you just jam that invisicord pin under or over the factory wire. Its more like wedged in there than they like plug together.

You got the REAL invisicord right?

NCS... Sorry to hear about the 2 hour nightmare here.
Here's some tips/help...

It sounds like you have got the correct 12v yellow to pink/green & ground black to black connections already.
Also, hopefully you are using the Invisicord Micro with the smaller & easier to push-in pins.
If not, then that could possibly be your problem/roadblock as that is a very tight fitting harness plug there.

You just have to be very diligent & firmly push these brass pins in whatever corner/side combination that it takes to make the necessary permanent contact connection into the harness plug.

When I did mine recently, I thought that it would have been a bit easier myself in that I had to play with my plug/push-in connections about 3 or 4 times (especially the yellow) in order to get to the constant foolproof state.
It probably took me about 5-10 minutes extra of trying/messing with this pin/plug placement including bending & pushing the pink/yellow wire to 1 corner of the harness block with a dental tool to make a little room in order to get the pin pushed in permanently.
2 times I thought I had it done, and when I plugged the harness back into the mirror, routed the Invisicord out the small harness opening & shut the mirror back plastic door, the detector lost power.
I just stayed with it till I got it right.

In addition, hopefully you are trying to do this with the Jeep power on, detector on, and the harness unplugged from the mirror as you sit in the passenger seat to get to see the plug-in's as best as you can.

So, sounds like you're not doing anything really wrong... I think that you just have not got the pins 'locked-in' yet.
Hopefully this helps some... Good Luck!
