What are you using as windshield washer fluid?

I've always had the dealer fill it up during oil changes on my other cars, now the new jeep might have come almost empty and I need a refill. What are you guys using? SHould I just do those home made water/dish soap or buy some of those 99c cheap stuff? Any reason to go for those premium products?

I use the RainX washer solution in mine, it seems to make raindrops slide off the windshield faster at highway speeds and clean better than the cheapest stuff the stores sell. It's only a couple of bucks a gallon, so it isn't premium by any means.

Re: What are you using as windshield washer fluid?

The OM says that the use of RainX can interfere with the auto wipers. I have used RainX for over 20 years, but I've hesitated to use it on the Jeep.

Ouch! My jeep came with no washer fluid and took almost two bottles of RainX to fill it. I missed the no RainX in the manual... Is it the only brand not recommended? I have a black GC and an evil bird in the tree over my driveway that loves shitting on cars, so I have to wash mine twice a week (if I weren't in the city limits, said bird would be dead). As such, I leave the auto wipers off, as they kept coming on in the car wash.

RainX has that stupid orange tint, so I can see how it could interfere with the rain sensor if it is above the wiper zone. I have heard horror stories about auto wipers in older vehicles coming on in a mist and smearing crud on the windshield, plus the Jeep brakes don't remove water in auto mode, so I am strongly considering just using manual wipers for said reasons and sticking with the RainX....

BTW I am a RainX fan, use their fluid and all weather wipers. I get ticked off when an oil change place fills the wiper fluid or replaces my brand new wiper with their generic POS, even after I tell them not to touch either.

Re: What are you using as windshield washer fluid?

I just use the cheap 99 cent blue stuff. I try not to use it anyway since I try to keep my jeep clean all the time and would rather not get the overspray marks when it dries.

Re: What are you using as windshield washer fluid?

I use 303 windshield washer tablets: 303 Instant Windshield Washer Tablets

They are pretty potent even mixed with a gallon of water, so each tablet makes about a gallon and a half for me. I mix it with regular windshield washer fluid in the winter so it doesn't freeze.

Re: What are you using as windshield washer fluid?

When windshield washers first came out, GM supplied a bottle of concentrate that was stored in a clip of the wheel well. One capful and fill with water. One bottle would last for years. Now, we buy the water. Isn't shipping all that water a waste of money?

This drives me bonkers, I don't mind the big bottles, but they should come as a concentrate with a just add water note, it always amazes how wasteful we are for laziness!
