I have a new Warn 8000 winch I'd like to put on my new JGC. The winch came off my wrangler, the winch was less than a month old when I took it off. I was wondering if anyone has installed a winch capable brush guard or a winch bumper on there JGC. I don't like the hidden hitch mount, I have found that when you get stuck the less time you have to spend outside the car the better. Has anyone come across a mounting option on the internet for the WK2?
Any ideas?
I want to see one first, it might make the jeep look terrible but it is a shame for the winch to go to waste.
I could see mounting the Warn reciever mount behind the bumper, with just the reciever stub sticking out. You could then get another Jeep logo rubber plug like the rear has for when not using the winch.
I agree, the integrated winch into the bumper is the way to go. ARB's would take from the lines of the jeep,, and there seems to be plenty of room behind the bumper to squeeze a winch in. Come on aftermarket!
I'm sure my local 4WD shop can fab one up. I have the winch I just need a good installer. There is a place that used to do custom work on my TJ I'll probably take it too. Since its been done it proves it can be done.
It says it fits 1993-2011. I guess it more of a universal fit that has to be drilled into the frame or something. I am more curious how the winch was mounted in the video I posted.
I emailed Wilson Offroad who did the winch mount on there - basically they told me it was a complicated install, and not something DIY or a Kit. Too bad, but a 5k mile round trip makes that an expensive mod. Going to look around for a local shop who would give it a shot.

Yeah, I'm sure any of your off road specialty shops could fab one up for you. Any fab work is always expensive. It does look good though, and there is alot of room for it behind the bumper.
I have been in conversations with Rocky Road about having one built. They are planning to look at it in January after the holidays. The intent is to make it into a Kit that could be installed without specific Fabrication work - but they haven't gotten into the particulars yet. They are also looking at some bumper modifications that promise to be sexy.... I should know more in a couple weeks....
