Re: WK2 Front Tow Hook Installation (pic heavy)

I got my tow hooks installed with a package deal, I think it was worth it (1 day of overtime at work paid for it) They put the Leveling kit on with the combo winch mount , skid plate. BUT it is a POSER for now because the WARN 9.5 would not work so got to save a few more $$$ to get the WARN V10000
they said RRO shorted me some parts and they could not mount the light/push bars..... The only bad thing is i told the Kid working on it what i was going to do RE: the UNFINISHED look with the Skid plate on, Well he ran with it and thought he would do me a favor and do it for me it looks ok but He is not a finisher as in rough cuts, i wanted to retain a LiL more of the valance heres a few pictures

Yep...those are the new bulbs. Maybe it's the picture, but a 100% improvement from the yellowish stock headlight and fog light bulbs.

Thank you very much GCLimited, going to put the tow hooks on order so I can install them as soon as my ride arrives.

Re: WK2 Front Tow Hook Installation (pic heavy)

Finished the Tow Hook Install this past weekend. It took me 1 hr 45 min. I wasted 30 of those minutes trying to get the jeep off of the jackstands. My jack would not pick the jeep up enough to slide them off. Somehow it went up enough to get the jackstands under, but they didn't want to come off. I found the most difficult part was fitting my hands in the tight spot to hold the nuts in place. I threaded the bolts/nuts on and off 5 times each and that made them much easier. Definitely worth the extra prep time. I still had one that kept sticking on me, but I got it done.

I'm suprised you had to use jack stands. There was more than enough room under the bumper of my 2014 installing my tow hooks that I didn't need to lift the front end at all.

Re: WK2 Front Tow Hook Installation (pic heavy)

I probably didn't need to lift it, but it made it easier. I have long arms and like to get a better by raising up the Jeep. I have an '11 so not sure if it's much different.

One more note....I didn't use the 2 sided tape because I didn't have much trouble getting all the pieces in place. I could definitely see it being useful though.

Re: WK2 Front Tow Hook Installation (pic heavy)

Does anyone know if I can buy the red tow hooks with the installation hardware included? All the sites I have visited say that I need to buy the red hooks separate from the black ones, because the black ones are the only ones that come with the needed hardware?

Why not just buy the black set...then paint the tow hooks red?

You'd save a lot of money this way.

Re: WK2 Front Tow Hook Installation (pic heavy)

I thought about that, however, the red hooks are rubber, not metal. I know I'd be saving a lot of money but I'd like to have the finish of the OEM.

That is what I did But the trail-hawk hooks have a Textured finish to them. I painted them Kinda Heavy/thick waited until they were simi dry then squeezed a rag on them to get a textured finish (make sence) turned Just Ok... but found this Durabak18 Textured-Qt-Non Slip Coating, Bedliner $40 so when they need to be repainted i am going to use they to repaint.
