Yea, no clue... It made the install really easy though. Sorry for the sideways picture I was uploading from the iPhone. I did pull-ups on the hooks and they were super sturdy. Hope I did right.

Re: WK2 Front Tow Hook Installation (pic heavy)

Another successful install here on my 2014 JGC limited - thanks to the excellent pictures, tips and discussion in this thread. It took me about 2 hours - factoring in the "help" from my 6 and 9 yr olds, plus failing light from impending nightfall.

Thanks all who took the time to post pictures and instructions...

- Chris

Re: WK2 Front Tow Hook Installation (pic heavy)

Really appreciate all the help this forum has provided. I was able to complete my install in about 2 hours as well. Running the bolts through the nuts several times made a huge difference. After reading every post, I ran into zero issues and took GCLimited's advice and replaced my driving lamps while the lower bumper was off. Instead of going with 5,000K whites to match the HID lights, I went with Hella Optilux Extreme Yellow XY H11 bulbs. I wasn't using the driving lamps much because I was satisfied with the light output of the HID headlamps, so I went with fog lamps for fog, rain and snow. They were only $20 on Amazon.

Our 2014 Overland has chrome tow hooks.

Do you recommend being in drive because it's easier to see where you are going or for mechanical reasons?

The only time I've pulled someone out was on an ocean beach where it was wide open so I didn't have to worry about backing into anything.

Re: WK2 Front Tow Hook Installation (pic heavy)

Hi everyone, greetings from the Northwest!

Just completed this mod today on my '14 GC Laredo. I did it in conjunction with a couple other mods - in addition to the tow hooks, I also installed the chrome lower fascia insert from a GC Limited, and GC SRT front honeycomb grill inserts.

I wound up just taking off the front bumper - it was a 10 minute job, and it was an enormous help. I needed to do it anyway to install the grill and fascia stuff anyway. It made all of the otherwise hidden work completely visible, and the only added hassle was the plastic rivets that I had to replace. I had bought the Harbor Freight plastic rivet tool, which came with a supply of rivets, so no problem.

Re: WK2 Front Tow Hook Installation (pic heavy)

Hello. Going to order hooks online for my install. Has anyone added the hooks to an Overland with the Adaptive Cruise Control? Any complications here with the lower fascia removal or installation? Thanks!

Unhappy Re: WK2 Front Tow Hook Installation (pic heavy)

hi all,

these hooks are definetly not compatible with my Austrlian 2014 JGC Limited.
There are no holes in the frame to hold the spacers.
I think someone mentioned this earlier.
2Hrs wasted...

Re: WK2 Front Tow Hook Installation (pic heavy)

Anyone know of a place to buy the chrome tow hooks with the mounting hardware, or the hardware by itself? So far it looks like the only way to do a chrome tow hook install is to buy the chrome hooks and the black hooks that come with the hardware. Thanks
