I'm ordering these parts from etrailer for my 2012 Laredo (no pre-wire).

Draw-tite #75699 $146.95
Tow Ready T-one Wiring harness #118425 $24.95
Mounting bracket 4-pole #18144 $3.19

I'll have to remove the rear tow-hook but the install looks fairly simple.

Re: WK2 Hitch Install

I installed the Draw-tite, no wiring since it's only for a bike rack. It's an easy bolt on installation. Four bolts are already on the truck's frame, you need to remove and re-use to attach the hitch receiver. The size is 21mm I believe... The ones on the exhaust side were a pain in the ass to remove, really tight... so I had to put everything I got into it since I got cheap tools. :-)

Re: WK2 Hitch Install

I can't believe I tore my shoulder labrum and partial rotator cuff installing this. Just a warning for those looking to do this, the bolts on the passanger's side are really tight so get proper tools and avoid an unnecessary surgery. There goes my summer... :-(

Re: WK2 Hitch Install

I am curious do you need to have the dealer do a scan for the wire harness to work on a Draw-Tite hitch set-up?

Re: WK2 Hitch Install

I didn't do the wiring as I only use it for a Thule bike rack. Hopefully somebody answer that for us.

Does anyone know if I can install a hitch and keep my rear tow hook? It appears that I need to remove the hook?

Thanks, Jimi

Re: WK2 Hitch Install

Yes, the tow hook has to be removed for the OEM hitch installation. I do not know if there is an after-market hitch that would allow you to keep it, but I doubt it.

Re: WK2 Hitch Install

You don't need the hook if you got a hitch, that is what the hitch ball is used for (when not towing).

Re: WK2 Hitch Install

To each their own, but the best way to recover a vehicle using the hitch is to remove the receiver, slip the eye of the tow rope into the hitch and put the pin back in. Safer too.
