Then the fascia, this is where under the wheel well you will break some plastic rivets.

Then there are a couple bolts holding the styrofoam and plastic block on.

Then the metal bar across the front. I saved the splash guards on the sides and re-attached those and the diagonal cross bars too.

Then take your grill off and this pic shows the winch bracket and diagonal cross bars, it is easier to put the cross bars on the bracket before you mount it in there.

You will have to drill some holes for additional bolts, save all the factory hardware and re-use that along with the new bolts. One is self tapping, so that is why you need specific size drill bits. You will also have to loosen the tow hooks and re-tighten them on the new winch bracket.

Re: WK2 Winch kit install

This is the way you have to mount the winch and solenoid; there's no room to do it any other way. Oh, and don't run your winch cable like I did there, the hook doesn't fit through the hawse!

Edit--I should say that I clocked the motor so the wiring was facing up here.

Then start putting everything back together. I still haven't run the cable through the hawse yet! I had to run it out and feed it back through.

Add the brushguard, I complicated things by adding the lights but now is the time to add them there; will save you a lot of work later!

Re: WK2 Winch kit install

The prerunner skid plate bolts on easy enough, there are bolts you have to put on the winch bracket before the winch goes on that the skid bolts to.

I had to cut two fins from the plastic part of the grill to access the solenoid, you can't even see it unless it is pointed out to you.

I think I would like to paint these exposed bolts and stuff that might rust, other than that, it is done!

Sorry for the long write up, I thought it was going to be more complicated! I have some more pics of it if you want to see them here:

Re: WK2 Winch kit install

I should say I plan on taking the chrome trim off the sides, and once I get that done I'll take some good pics and post them over in the 'rides' section.

The winch was the standard one RR sells with the kit, the Smitty 10K; I believe I will be running out to go grab some snatch blocks and d rings later on. I haven't noticed the front end lower any, if I do I'll post it here, but I literally just finished a few hours ago. I have the RR lift kit so I don't plan on leveling.
