Methinks you should keep looking for a dealer that doesnt have their head stuck up their ass.

Not sure what's up with the dealers out there, but I just placed my order for a 4X4 Overland Diesel this morning. I'm in IL.

Re: 2014 JGC Diesel Ordering

Yeah I wish I could find one, just today I've had replies from 2 dealers saying they are waiting to be able to order. Not sure what that means since obviously other dealerships already have "permission".

Widen your search... I'm driving about four hours one way to DC to get mine. Not sure where you are but there is a dealer in Colorado Springs that has made a good group buy deal. Visit the Academy or Pike's Peak or something while you're out there.

Re: 2014 JGC Diesel Ordering

So in the short time since my first post I've had one dealership that will put in the order tomorrow, and one that will put in the order as soon as he can(not sure what timeframe he's talking about). Neither of them can give me an invoice price "because they haven't ordered it yet". I'm thinking around 51K for an Overland 4x4 Diesel w/tech package, block heater, and quadra-drive II. Does that sound similar to what you guys have been priced at?

Go look here and you can price out your exact build. You should accept nothing higher than one percent UNDER invoice...

I am getting the exact same build as you and I am paying 3 grand less than you. My dealer is in Texas, but I am flying from Minnesota, and driving back. Will wind up with lots of $$$ left in my pocket. PM me if you want the dealer info. (and yes, he can order one for you tomorrow)

Re: 2014 JGC Diesel Ordering

I think a lot of people underestimate the cost of flying somewhere to pick up a vehicle just to save a thousand or two dollars. Airfare, possible hotel, gas, cost per mile on something like a GC is around .70 cents. For a 1,000 mile trip you are easily in the $1,000 to $1,500 cost range, excluding your time. Usually is never worth it unless you want to sightsee or something on the way back.

It IS important to understand what you are doing... but for some it is a chance for a mini-adventure. Others just want the absolute best deal they can get on the vehicle and are willing to include the costs of going to get it into the mix or willing to ignore the costs of going to get it just so they can say they got the "best deal".

I can just imagine the scenario, "Nice truck, Bob!" "Thanks! Got a GREAT deal on it too!"

I have already priced out airfare (for 2), hotel, gas, and food for the trip. Will be less than a thousand dollars for all expenses. After all expenses are paid, I will still be saving $1500 more than any other deal that I could find, and I get a mini vacation out of it.
