381hp, 546lbft, 5.3s 0-62, 35MPG X5M

This is a beast that the folks worldwide (NOT 'Murica) will be getting. Tri Turbo 3L Inline 6 of a monster. Too bad we won't see high performance diesels come stateside for awhile.

http://www.netcarshow.com/bmw/2013-x6_m50d/

Excerpt:

As for the 2014 BMW X5 M50d, the U.S. unfortunately will miss out on this latest high-performance diesel. The vehicle falls under BMWs new M Performance umbrella and features a triple-turbo 3.0-liter straight-six diesel engine, just like the previous-generation X5 M50d. Output is unchanged for the latest model, registering at 381 horsepower and 546 pound-feet of torque.

This is enough to rocket the latest X5 M50d from 0-62 mph in 5.3 seconds and see it easily reach its governed top speed of 155 mph. Fuel economy for the European combined cycle is an impressive 35.1 mpg.

Wow, that's a lot of power, torque, performance with fantastic mileage.

Kind of hard to believe, but I want it!

That is insane, but goes for $112k per these guys.

2013 BMW X6 M50d - Top Speed

Rather take a Carrera 4s and have a little gas money to boot.

Uh, my bad. I didn't notice that fantastic engine was in the X6. I think the X6 is one of he ugliest vehicles ever!

Hate the car, love the engine.

Re: 381hp, 546lbft, 5.3s 0-62, 35MPG X5M

That motor will be going in both the X5M and X6M.

I'm sure the majority of that price is the cost of the BMW badge as well as the M badge. What's amazing is the engineering to pull all of that power out of a 3.0L motor and still pull 35 MPG. Granted a sequential tri-turbo would probably up the motor price by a few K, but how cool would it be to have a SRT Diesel?

VW is trying a similar tactic downmarket with the GTD, which is a diesel powered version of the GTI. It is more expensive that the gas version, and the performance is not quite as good. Will be interesting to see how that plays stateside.

I'm sure these BMWs are monsters to drive though.
