Are there any issues with warranty by fitting one of these race chips?

Clarkey.

Cool. The 250 euro extra for the racechip ultimate looks like being a waste of money. Only an extra 1kw and 6 Nm over the racechip pro, and double the price.

The torque and power curves look good on the pro. (Click here) At 1400rpm, it's already equalling max torque at the wheels of the unchipped CRD.

Clarkey.
If the motor or driveline had problems and they knew about the racechip, then yes.
Being a plugin device, you would unplug it when taking it to a dealer.

Hi Mate,
Was looking on the export thread for info on the chip and found your post. Can I ask if there is a noticable difference, power, fuel?

Cheers.

I have left the chip at the default settings and it's more then enough for the moment. The engine is noticeably stronger from 1-1200rpm and once out of the green zone the numbers fly by.

5th gear is strong and overtaking is effortless.

Fuel economy, well it is a little to early at the moment to get any solid numbers but it's looking at about 0.1-0.3L/100km better. Just need a few more tanks to confirm it.

Having always modified my motorcycles with piggy back ecu's I know they make a difference with the ability to self tune. How ever I never would had guessed how much the difference this chip has made.

...and last question, have you had a scheduled service since the install. Slightly concerned with tracablity voiding warranty, but based on your info, I think I'm sold!!! Many Thanks for such a useful post

No, I haven't had it service since it was plugged in. I doubt the stealership would notice anything.

For your information, the racechip comes with a Y-cable and the box. When looking at the engine from the front with the cover off, it's the left hand fuel rail it plugs into. The 3pin plug at the back is removed, harness plugged in and the factory plug goes to the other end of the y-cable. The long end of the y-cable plugs into the box/chip which I have placed on the right strut housing with the QL air hoses. All the cabling looks factory and it runs under the cover and at the back of the engine

The ECU doesn't see the chip at all, as the chip 'intercepts' the electrical signal from the vehicle to the fuel rail, ie less or more fuel.

The only issue at the moment is the stock kumho's are struggling when you need to move through a intersection in hurry

Tempted now. Time for negotiations with the minister for domestic finance.

I prefer to get hung for a wolf than a sheep. Buy it now and suffer a weeks silence for not consulting with her is my approach..... (Hope to God she doesn't read this post or I'll get more than my ECU cut off)

Yeah it is easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.

Hey BlackLimited,

Do you reckon you could throw on a pic or 2 of the installed unit?

Thanks in advance.

Clarkey.
